Because while all of us envy others to some extent, few of us acknowledge our problem out loud, let alone try to overcome it and move forward. Bob Sorge draws upon his own pastoral experience--plus the admitted burden of his own envy--to show why and how it can adversely affect the ministry of a church and even prevent revival in people's lives.
Sorge reveals why comparison of our ministry and spiritual gifts to that of our fellow believers is to be avoided at all costs so that we do not hamstring God's plan for our growth and the accomplishment of His purposes. This is a must-read for leaders of all churches, great and small--and anyone who wants the peace that comes with a life free of envy.

She knew she was envious and confessed it. I went on to confess it to my prayer partners and BAM, they all confessed that they were envious of me as well. This book really helped me to see how envious we are and it all started with Adam and Eve being envious of our Father and wanting to be like Him. This is the third Bob Sorge book I have read, all three of them life-changing. This book is not written as a set of theories and observations.
It is written from the heart of a man who dares to transparently bare his own soul and tell of his own struggle with envy. You will be amazed at what you have missed about the subject of envy in the Word of God, and you will receive solid wisdom on dealing with the miseries of envy in your own soul.
Take courage; it is something we ALL deal with though few will readily admit. Thank you, Bob Sorge. I'm a huge reader like HUGE! And this book is now one of my top 3 of all time! God used this book to set me free! Truly life changing. Envy is one of those things you'd think a minister never has to deal with But unfortunately, it's a very real problem in the Body of Christ. This book takes a real and honest look at the issue of envy, how to get rid of it yourself, and how to stay insulated when others lash out in envy toward you.
I personally believe every minister should have this in his or her personal library. I absolutely LOVE this book. Not only was it powerful in searching my own heart for jealousy and envy - but it is a MUST read for anyone in ministry. I have taken multiple ministry teams that I have led through this book in order to talk openly about this topic.
Bob Sorge does an amazing job at bringing to light this issue of envy and how it truly is the spirit that seeks to destroy any movement of God. Bob Sorge does a great job at providing the Scriptural basis for this book and the bringing to light how envy seeks to work in us and through us to destroy what God wants to do.
He also uses great examples of how envy worked with Cain and Abel, Saul and Davidl, to the Pharisees and Jesus, to the religious leaders and the disciples and more examples with women through out the Bible. He also shows how common it was in Scripture to see envy more active in male to male and female to female relationships. Seriously, this is one of the best books I have ever read. It is one everyone who is called into the ministry should read and take their leadership teams through so that the work of God can continue to move powerfully through them.
This is a powerful book and transformative book. Go to Amazon. Back to top. Get to Know Us. Shopbop Designer Fashion Brands. Alexa Actionable Analytics for the Web. DPReview Digital Photography.
